On Sunday May 5th 2019, the Commissioning Mass of the Directors of Sophia Education Ministries took place at Kincoppal-Rose Bay.
The day began with a smoking ceremony in Chapel Square conducted by two people from the Gadigal clan of the land of the Eora Nation. This was followed by Mass conducted by Fr Frank Dineen MSC
Sr Lynette Toohey Provincial, welcomed everyone and provided those present with an explanation of the history of the origin and development of Sophia Education Ministries from the beginnings in 2013, when the Australian Schools Governance Working Party was formed to explore options to ensure the future life of the schools. The option chosen was to apply to the Vatican to establish a Pontifical Public Juridic Person called Sophia Education Ministries to take responsibility for the three Australian schools. The Working Party canvassed the expertise of many people to assist with the Petition to Rome and approval was dually granted on 21st November 2016.
